Hot Creations
Tiger Stripes started off with releases on deep house labels like Ibadan and Nite Grooves, but this outing on Hot Creations sees him pivot towards a tougher sound. Granted, the title track still features vocals, but the chords surge menacingly, the kicks are steely and heavy and there are surges of noisy bass throughout. "Haunted" is more understated and stripped back, focusing on the Swedish producer's ability to weave together hypnotic, minimal house. However, his melodic sensibility is still audible in the tripped out hooks that rise up through the arrangement. "Dunjacka" is more in keeping with the Hot Creations in-house sound, as a looped vocal sample emerges through the jacking arrangement, while Leftroom's Matt Tolfrey drops a linear, funky take on the title track.

Clone Royal Oak
Clone Royal Oak's 43rd edition delivers fresh new cuts by a newcomer from the Dutch west coast, featuring warm and woolly vintage synth sounds that create futuristic vibes. Dark old school techno in the vein of Suburban Knight or Orlando Voorn. From the cracking, lo-fi groove of "Masterlight" with its classic sci-fi overtones, through to second offering "Modular Flute" which is the winner here. It is a groove oriented jam with lush FM synth tones and the boom and bounce of classic Roland drum machines.

Poker Flat Germany
From Leeds but now based in Manchester, Josh Butler has embarked on a career that in a mere six yeras has gone from strength to strength - with releases on Origins, Hot Creations and now the mighty Poker Flat. The Dreamweaver EP features the slinky and bass driven title track that works a sense of tension and suspense so amazingly well, second offering "Through You" is something more upifting and funky - this swing-fuelled groove is perfect for the afternoon set. Finally to bridge the gap we have the hypnotic "Movement" which gets more deep and minimal and is perfect for those heads-down moments under the strobe light.

Knee Deep In Sound
As Hot Since 82 is in the midst of the second season of his Labyrinth residency at Pacha Ibiza, his Knee Deep In Sound label present their annual sampler inspired by the island. As always these albums are an opportunity to showcase up and coming talent, with the remit being tracks that are working on the dancefloor for the label boss both in Ibiza and beyond. Highlights include Spanish power duo Chus & Ceballos' dub laden hypnotism on "Ain't Nobody", French legend Oxia's electrifying peak time tool "Instinct" and even a bit of German-style dancefloor drama on the suspense filled "Night Crawler" by Hauswerks. Fellow German (speakers!) Dennes Deen and Philipp Strab from Austria contribute also, with the sexy and slinky prog house groove of "Haunted Drums".

The Solution

Formerly masked duo Camelphat are back with more anthemic main room fodder on new hit "The Solution". Indeed, it is like its name suggests and we can imagine this percussion driven chugger rocking the peak time slot. Second orginal offering "DMT" is a more moody and tunnelling affair for those build-up moments, when the strobelight and smoke machine get turned on. Following up their terrific remix of Fatboy Slim's "Right Here, Right Now" which is being caned everywhere at the moment - it seems this dynamic duo can seriously do no wrong.

Drumpoet Community Switzerland
Swiss imprint Drumpoet Community return with one of their nations favourite sons. Yanneck Salvo aka Quarion (alongside homeboy Agnes and German associates Session Victim) helped usher in a refreshing new wave of deep house a decade ago, just as the mid noughties sounds of minimal were becoming passe. Here the Retreat label boss goes back to his roots - he served up one of Drumpoet's first released back in 2006 - and gives us some more sublime/ timeless deep house on the Cobblestone EP. His trademark melodic style featuring shimmering synth sequences and sublime atmosphere is on display with the title track, while the sexy late night deepness of "Sunday Night" (Part 2) is equally impressive. Afro rhythms in a low-slung groove, beneath some brooding elements comprise an unusual mixture that works quite wonderfully on "Jamaican Morse Code".

It is now over to hot Berlin DJ/blogger duo Local Suicide on San Francisco's Roam Recordings, following up some great releases by electro punks Aimes, John Parsley and Zombies In Miami. Teaming up with Mexico City's Alex Sander aka Mijo on the boompty late night sleaze of "Edo Kai Tora" which gets a majorly brooding remix up next by Berlin veteran Sascha Funke. Next up "Ganz Falsch" is a properly neon-lit nu-disco jam, that's bound to get you boogying right into the stratosphere. It too receives a rework: it's over to Moscow's Simple Symmetry of Multi Culti and Correspondant fame, who gets into some rowdy punk-funk antics in the vein of Red Axes or Autarkic.

Music For Freaks
Human beatbox Dave Aju is back with more Bay City shenaigans on the always reliable Music For Freaks. He teams up with Sheffield's Thatmanmonkz of Shadeleaf fame on the funky and lo-slung epic "They Sleep We Love" which features Foxxee Brown aka Lawrence Petty's engaging and life-affirming vocals. Petty being a core part of the infamous Ya Mama's House radio show on 106 KMEL (alongside Pete Avila and David Harness) that introduced legions of young Bay Area DJs to real house music - including Aju - in the early '90s.

Soundteller Records is a record label founded in 2012 by Piotr Sarnecki aka Deersky. The label is based in Warsaw, Poland. Their new release is by Cypriots Angelos Pavlides and Argyris Panagi aka Paul Angelo & Don Argento of Movement / Soundteller / Bonzai fame. They serve up some super slinky and evocative progressive house here, on the Fountain Of Youth EP. The title track will entrance you with its use of its intricate layers of melody and suspense filled atmosphere. "Entrap" on the other hand is a moodier cut, fuelled by moody and textured pads and one razor sharp bassline.

Roman tech-house producer Whitesquare is back! The Lyase boss follows up releases on top labels like Freerange and Gruuv with this magnificent EP. Starting off with the emotive and melodic deepness of "Limitation" which is reminiscent of Fort Romeau's work, the slinky and almost progressive house styled groove of "Velvet Room" plus the sombre "Pressing Points" which is geared for some of those life-affirming and solitary moments on the dancefloor - just before the smoke machine comes on. Very impressed with the output of Tropical Animals of late - keep it coming guys!

After the great success of his first four albums on Plastic City, critics and fans of Krisztian Dobrocsi aka Forteba can rejoice for his fifth long player entitled Arboretum. He hails from the Hungarian city of Vac, where he found his true calling relatively early. At 18 he started producing electronic music of all styles. Starting off with breakbeat and chill-out music, he soon ventured into the world of straight 4/4 rhythms, profoundly inspired by German deep house. The Hungarian follows up 2015's Fabula EP marvellously here, featuring a dozen sublime cuts (plus a continuous mix) such as the deep, late night mood-lighting of "Fall For One", the bittersweet and personal nu-disco of "Farred" or the emotive and soulful Ron Trent vibe of "Fancylvania".
