Jinx
Snakes & Blaggers
EXCLUSIVE
Straight Up Audio
Straight Up Audio, straight up fire! Jinx presents his brand new label to the game and he's doing it with a serious statement of intent: "Snakes & Blaggers", a near-album sized packet of party slappers all sitting pretty on the fertile ground between jump up, jungle and tech. From the venomous riff on "Holding It Down" to the tunnelling paranoia hardcore bass spirals of "Sekkle" via the nasty rasps and swinging breaks of "Bun Dem" this epic EP epitomises the label's vision: no subsubsubgenres, no pigeon holes, just straight up dnb. Blaggers need not apply...
Gravit-E
/
Konz
The Boss
EXCLUSIVE
Dutty Bass Audio
Gavit-E was last spotted on Dutty Bass Audio getting "Drunk & Wild". Konz was last spotted on the label suggesting we all "Take A Break". Now together they return to the Toronto imprint in arms... And they're showing us who's boss. "X Wife" is pure drone and groan in the bass metallic way possible while "The Boss" whips up a riot with a rising wobble and all-round sense of sci fi funk. Elsewhere the men go solo... Gravit-e melts our soul down to liquid metal poly alloy with "The Genesis Of Skynet" while Konz finishes us off with a warp-speed sizzler that parps and punches with a Tyke-like sense of menace. Bossing it.
Various
Energize Volume 1
Dub Voltage
Time for a recharge: Dub Voltage wire up our short and curlies to their bass mainframe and fill us with frazzled bass freshness. Designs come courtesy of their nearest, dearest and a few fresh names to the fold with electrified experiences ranging from the cool staccato bass and subtle jazz elements of Sentive's "Convex" through the raging brass drama of Skudkid's theatrical groaner "The Hornz" via the warped, trippy funk of Vital's "Nowadayz". Feel energized.
Sota
Sota-Bad Taste
EXCLUSIVE
Nuke
Core blimey, Nuke are up to their explosive tricks once again. This time with new-gen gullysmith Sota who's turned in two stinking nose-breakers. "Bad Taste" is all about the rampant sandpaper bass scorches and sudden flashes of amenised fills while "The Truth" is every bit of the hurter its name suggests. Sawing bass grit over slamming kicks. Can you handle it?
Lynch Kingsley
Echosystem
Rua Sound
Having worked with the super respected label likes of Dreamers, Flexout and Inperspective, Italian beat meddler now sprays his sonics all over Rua's ever expanding canvas. The results speak for themselves; "Eternal Sunset" is a fractured bliss with all the warmth and feels you'd expect from a man based just outside of Rome. "Wild Obsession VIP" sees Lynch taking his 2016 collaboration with Block Mameli and giving it a vibrant, not to mention gully, new update (watch out for the strange beat switch on the vocal) "Echosystem" pays homage to traditional dubcraft while grand finale "Deadly" closes with a scorching dancehall sampling slap-about. Four pearls of absolute truth; this is one of Lynch's best EPs to date.
Vital
A Little Mad
EXCLUSIVE
Bass Legion
You mad bro? You will be if you don't pick this slamdunking eight piece from man like Vital. Near album in its weight, shape and delivery, every track cuts straight to the chase with gritty, unkempt energy. "A Little Mad" kickstarts the grot engine with two tone harmonic sandpaper bass groove before we're treated to happy slapping highlights such as a frazzled rubber ball bounces of "Mucky", the rump shaking low end lurker "Imagination" and the beautifully sweary "Naughty Words". Don't get mad... There's also a clean version for the more wholesome DJs among us.
Inja
Blank Pages
Hospital
Importance Never Justifies Anything... Unless you're chatting Inja's debut album then it justifies an absolute shock out. Ranging from classic 92 flavoured hardcore breaks (opener "Intro") to sweeping hurricane rollers ("Flow") to serious home truth heaviness ("She Just Wanna Dance"), the rapidly accelerating MC has laid down a debut album of DRS proportions right here. Complete with beats from the likes of Serum, Whiney, Nu:Logic, Pete Cannon, Anile and None Decay, this is the sound of an MC who knows exactly how to articulate, entertain and work with some of the best producers in the game. No faking; this is a contender for D&B album of the year. Props to everyone involved.
Danger
Simulations
EXCLUSIVE
Cre8 Dnb Music
Ever feel like life is a simulation? Like this is all a fabrication for some great dark puppet master and we don't actually exist in this world? Danger does, and he's making a break from the matrix to see what's out there in the real world. "Sleep Paralysis" breaks our cranial plug from the machine its spiked out riff while "This One" revitalises our weak machine-sustained bodies with its low rumbling rolling bass turbulence and "Simulation" confronts us with the raw horror of the actual reality we've been trapped in thanks to a high voltage lighting bass hook. Klay joins the fray for the penultimate blast of wokeness as "In Put" stabs and slams with a vicious staccato before a VIP of Danger's past glory "Touch Of Generations" sends us back to our portal, safe and snug in our cosy simulations. Home sweet simulated home.
Agro
First There Was Dark
EXCLUSIVE
Sub-liminal Recordings
First there was dark... Then Agro came along with some disgusting gully riddims and the light was so strong man invented shades. Seriously; this man has yet to release a duff tune and here are two more examples of his scorching illuminations. The title track is understated, low slung and weighted in rich treacle bass while "Crazy Game" (with young upstart Guzi) sheds more light on the darkest, dankest of corners with a vicious fog horn Q&A and a breakdown that opens the gates to Hades itself. Time to get lit.
My Selecta
Heavy Artillery Vol 1
EXCLUSIVE
Deep In The Jungle
He's our selecta, he's your selecta, he's My Selecta and he's clearly been deep in the lab working on his craft as this is the first outing we've heard from the young northerner in over a year now. The wait has been worth it; upping the tempo from his signature breaks to gully jungle climes, each cut shatters and batters in true DITJ style: "Get Up" is all about skitty drums and dizzying intense feels the best peak time jungle jams create, "It's On You" takes us deeper down the tunnels with a cleverly manipulated vocal sample and booming subs, "Run" is all about the aggy kick drum patterns and iced out ravey pads while "Hold On" closes the show with a gritty bassline brawl that nods respectfully to the tones and textures of the foundation Headz releases. Fire in the hole!
Benny L
Horizon
Audioporn
Benny's back on his spiritual slapping ground; after a string of releases on the likes of Drum&BassArena, Mac 2 and Metalheadz, he's returned to Shimon's Audioporn where it all began. As with every cut he's given us in the last three years, both cuts tickle hard. "Horizon" stares out into the endless void of the cosmos with stark hollow notes peppering the crunchy, precision mixed drums. "Thunder Slap", which has been doing the rounds on dub among key roller merchants, brings up the rear with even more groaning, moaning, droning action. Pure fog horn fury... Ain't nobody crushing it like Benny L right now.
Dominator
Beast From The East VIP EP
Biological Beats
We don't need to tell you how important this EP is. Commemorating a year since he tragically left us, each of these massive VIPs are a reminder of just how much of an impact Dom had on the game and how much he inspired his peers. You already know the tunes, you've no doubt heard these VIPs dropped in the dance, these are special moments in time that celebrate one of jump up's brightest souls. All proceeds go to Dom's family. Rest In Peace Beast From The East.
Java
Ruff & Tuff/Heads High
EXCLUSIVE
Klp
DJ Monk's legendary KLP imprint invites Java to the fray for two ruddy great brock outs. "Ruff & Tuff" skanks and slams with a Top Cat-style vibe, big sirens and shattering breaks. "Heads High" slaps us from here to Vegas with its classic vocal hook and another set of crucial thundering, roll-primed breaks. Damage guaranteed.
