Mount Kimbie
Blue Train Lines
Warp
"Blue Train..." is a taster for Mount Kimbie's third album, Love What Survives, and sees the production pair make the move into angst ridden electronic pop. Teaming up with singer King Krule, Mount Kimbie put down layer upon layer on white noise and drones as a back drop for the UK singer's howling, haunting vocals. Followed by rolling break beats and humming guitars, it's exactly the kind of track that will win them a while new fan base in the live music scene. Despite King Krule's claim that "I mighta seen it all", rest assured that thanks to Blue Train Lines, most of Mount Kimbie's highlights lay ahead of them.
Wisna
Static 909 EP
Planet Rhythm
Planet Rhythm has been around for longer than some of its artists have been alive, but the label still knows how to spot talent. The latest embodiment of its A&R skills is Wisna, who previously just had two releases to his credit. On "Static 909", this new artist shows his talents. "E-Communication" is a spiralling, tranced out acid techno banger, led by pile-driving percussion and wild filters, while on the title track, Wisna drops doubled-up claps and a linear, bleep-laden groove. "Quiet Room" sees him return to the same kind of tranced out sound that prevailed on "E-Communication", while "Black Optical" marks another shift as this emerging producer drops a stomping, Millsian affair, led by tough 909 kicks and insistent tonal waves.
The Maghreban
01DEAS
R&S
It was only a matter of time before The Maghreban stepped up on a legendary dance imprint like R&S Records. The London-based house and techno craftsman has received nothing but praise off the back of his 12"s for his own Zoot label, with everyone from Actress to Nina Kraviz having played his tunes out in the rave. 01 Ideas is his first full-lengther, and it's clear that this producer has a lot more to say than a few quirky dance tracks. This release is full of life and meaning, pacing itself with each new cut instead of banging out the rave anthems hither and dither. There are elements of house and techno, of course, but these are infused with a sensibility for something altogether more abstract, like noise, power electronics and even something industrial. What is truly impressive is how The Maghreban brings it all back to the Levant, a distant yet perceptible influence at the core of all these tunes.
Mele
Tribal Trax
Unknown To The Unknown
Best known for his releases on Lobster Boy and Eats Everything's Edible label, Mele now delivers a raucous release on DJ Haus' imprint. It starts with the bleep-heavy tones and rolling snares of "Moog Beat", which eventually descends into acid-soaked madness. On "Larry's Beat", the UK producer tries his hand at emulating Chicago house. Featuring a "rocking the house" vocal sample alongside a dark bass and firing percussion, he adds his own clanging drums and tough kicks, lending it a unique signature. As its name suggests, "Tribal Layers" is a dense, percussive roller. The remixes are also impressive; DJ Boring turns "Moog.." into a tougher workout, led by doubled up claps and pressure cooker climaxes, while the Bontan take on "Tribal Layers" is a raucous, bleepy affair.
JDstreams
Grace In My Mind
Waste Music Busters
In its original format, "Grace.." resounds to a rolling, system-levelling bass, twitchy percussion and a mournful chord sequence that breaks into the sound of car skidding in the middle of the arrangement. It's one of the most unusual techno tracks to appear in recent months, so it's fair to imagine that it might be a challenge for most producers to remix it. Not so for DarBian. Favouring a tougher sound and a slightly faster tempo, this alternate version centres on a buzzing, electronic bass, skeletal percussion and a cavernous groove that will have the same hypnotic effect as the original version
Mark Broom
Fire EP
Beard Man
UK techno veteran Mark Broom returns to his own label after a flurry of releases for Epm. Starting off with the title track, Broom relives the intensity of 90s techno tracks like Joey Beltram's "Forklift" as waves of electronic riffs build over a hammering rhythm. "Loop132" is also influenced by 90s techno, with the Beard Man boss delivering a firing, slightly distorted loop-y workout. "Haven" is different again, as Broom takes inspiration from Basic Channel and Chain Reaction's layered dub but underpinning it with tough kick. The release's diverse approach continues on Chicago producer Rondell Adams' dense and noisy take on "Loop132".
Voiski
Marble Sadness
Dement3d France
Inspired by a youth spent playing video games, Voiski's debut release on Dement3d also starts with a surprising cover version. 'Tin There' is an Underworld track, and featured on the Wipeout 2097 game that Voiski played back in the day. Certainly his take on the track is blindingly intense, as concrete kicks underpin buzz saw riffs and mean bleeps. "205 Colorline" is a rolling affair, led by tranced out hooks and a frazzled bass, while on "Micro Mouse Happy", he veers into a wild, acid-led approach, bolstered by steely drums and eerie chord sequences. Rounding off the release is the electro beats and dreamy synths of the title track.
The Maghreban
01DEAS
R&S Belgium
It was only a matter of time before The Maghreban stepped up on a legendary dance imprint like R&S Records. The London-based house and techno craftsman has received nothing but praise off the back of his 12"s for his own Zoot label, with everyone from Actress to Nina Kraviz having played his tunes out in the rave. 01 Ideas is his first full-lengther, and it's clear that this producer has a lot more to say than a few quirky dance tracks. Patrick Siech
Tetrahedron Cluster EP
Mary Go Wild Black
Dutch label Mary Go Wild Black is fast becoming known as one of the most consistent club techno labels, and this release will serve to bolster its reputation. The work of Patrick Siech, who has released before on Drumcode and Minus, it starts with the deep, spaced out rhythms and tonal bleeps of "Tetrahedron Cluster", which sounds similar to P.God and Mike Parker. "Bubbli" is more abrasive and sees Siech pick up the pace to deliver a grimy, bruising workout. The remixes are also of a high quality. Fabrizio Lapiana's version of "Tetrahedron Cluster" mines a similar path to "Bubbli", with a hypnotic groove led by hammering drums, while on the Abstract Division version of "Bubbli", spacey synths are fused with a growling acid line.
Deep'a & Biri
Dominance
Black Crow Recordings
Deep'a & Biri follow up their 2013 debut album on Gigolos with their first long player for their own label. Reflecting their interest in varying forms of techno, Dominance is a mixed affair. It includes ambient and low-tempo techno pieces like "Theories of Loneliness" and "Alpha Cephei" alongside harder, linear workouts like "Avicenna" and the broken beats and industrial undercurrents on "Alaklinity". While this could easily result in a jarring affair in less adept studio hands, the pair manage to articulate all of these elements in a fluid, cohesive manner, with the hypnotic, cavernous grooves of "Voltage" and "Ecole de Nancy" impressing most.
Hiver
Spiritual Machines EP
Obscura Music
Italian production pair Hiver specialise in blurring the boundaries between deep house and techno, audible on a string of acclaimed EPs for Vidab and Curle. Now they make their debut on Obscura and a similar approach applies. Both "Inverted Scale" and "RJ45" are driving but tranced out affairs, while at the other end of the spectrum, there's the glorious ambience of the title track and "Glass Effect". Both arrangements have a depth and atmospheric sensibility rarely heard in modern electronic music. Orbe is given the challenging task of reworking "Spiritual Machines", but succeeds in turning it into a rolling house workout. It's another deep masterclass from Hiver.
Esteban Adame
Unofficial Discourse EP
Dolly
Former Galaxy 2 Galaxy member Esteban Adame has released on some of modern techno's finest imprints - including Epm and Motech - but he now opts for a more house-based approach for this release on Steffi's label. The title track combines snappy drums, rolling snares and jazzy keys with a snaking bass, making for a classic deep house track. On "Throwing Signs", Adame fuses techy stabs with dreamy synth sequences, while on "Where's The Map Point", the US producer uses disco filters and a rolling groove as a back drop for sweet, symphonic strings. It's only on the Los Hermanos take on the title track that he and his colleagues return to the tough but soulful sound of Detroit techno.

Coni
Caligula EP
Dolly
Nicolas Olier aka Coni has made an impressive start since first appearing with a trio of EPs for France's lush ClekClekBoom imprint back in 2013. That gave the boy enough credit to merit a release on Will Bankhead's supremely selective The Triloy Tapes, and he's now rightfully landed on one of Berlin's most consistent imprints, Steffi's Dolly label. The title tune, "Caligula" is a deep and wondrous slice of big-room house, punishing in its beats and explorative in its harmonics, whereas "Euroflash" goes for a more minimal, stripped-back sort of bleep-banger. On the B-side, "Medusa" unleashes the dubwise flex, bouncing up and down with an elegant pace and a wonderfully euphoric crescendo of sonics. Quality.
Basic Soul Unit
Wallow
Dolly
Stuart Li aka Basic Soul Unit has been releasing music on Dolly since 2011, but Wallow is his most dance floor-friendly release for Steffi's label. On the title track, a vocal snippet and soaring synths play out against a backdrop of insistent but understated kicks and crisp claps. "Radiate" is less subtle; it resounds to a bleep-heavy bass and a rough metallic rhythm before it plunges the listener into a sub-aquatic rush of synths and hardcore-sampling vocals. "Joyride" sees the US producer deliver a stripped back groove, underpinned by eerie synth lines, while Voiski turns "Wallow" into a leaner, more linear affair, bolstered by a relentless bass and a pumping rhythm.

Dolly
Fresh from mixing the latest instalment of Fabric's mix series, Panorama Bar resident Steffi launches a new sub-label, Dolly Deluxe. Many of the tracks that feature on Fabric 94 also appear across the first four EPs on this offshoot. The fourth Dollydeluxe is (more or less) a family affair; Privacy integrates wiry electro funk with ghetto style vocals on "Broke", while "Off The Beat" is the result of a collaboration from Dexter and Virginia, two of Steffi's closest peers. Featuring Virginia's seductive chants and Klakson co-founder Dexter's out there, psychedelic electro shapes, it's one of the most unusual cuts over the four Dollydeluxe records. Affix Naim put out his debut record on Dolly last year and returns here with "Saturniidae", which mixes splurging bass with deep, atmospheric synth lines. Closing out the fourth volume is Finnish producer Mesas, with the mechanical whirrs and ticks of "Elekieli" underpinning crystalline melodies.

Dolly
Fresh from mixing the latest instalment of Fabric's mix series, Panorama Bar resident Steffi launches a new sub-label, Dolly Deluxe. Many of the tracks that feature on Fabric 94 also appear across the first four EPs on this offshoot. On the third Dollydeluxe release, the mood darkens temporarily. This is thanks to newcomer UAS dropping a lithe, acidic electro stepper in the shape of "World Gets Crazy". Nothus then revisits the evocative, atmospheric mood that shaped the preceding releases. Working as Late Night Approach, "Poison Valley" resounds to rolling 808s, widescreen synths and spacey bleeps. It makes for futuristic electro with a capital 'F'. Dutch veteran Duplex mixes steely funk with dreamy melodies on his contribution, "Voidfiller", while Mesak, who released before on Steffi's other label, Klakson, brings the third instalment to a close with the jittery "Commonaukko".

Dolly
Fresh from mixing the latest instalment of Fabric's mix series, Panorama Bar resident Steffi launches a new sub-label, Dolly Deluxe. Many of the tracks that feature on Fabric 94 also appear across the first four EPs on this offshoot. The second Dollydeluxe release boasts an atmospheric feeling, but with a dance floor bias. This is evident on Answer Code Request's stirring break beat opener, "Forking Path" and Voiski's brooding acid stepper, "Sound of Distance". Dexter, one of Steffi's closest peers, opts for a stern, steely electro approach on "66", while 214, fresh from his release on Lunar Disko, moves back towards ethereal sounds with the widescreen synths and ERP-style bass of "Sound Moments".

Dollydeluxe1
Dolly
Fresh from mixing the latest instalment of Fabric's mix series, Panorama Bar resident Steffi launches a new sub-label, Dolly Deluxe. Many of the tracks that feature on Fabric 94 also appear across the first four EPs on this offshoot. STFSHD is a new collaborative effort between the label owner and Shed and the fractured break beats and atmospheric textures of "1.0" and "1.5" kick start the new sub-label's first edition, Dollydeluxe1. Francesco De Bellis is best known for his electronic disco output as Mr Cisco, but as L.u.c.a., he drops the lush ambience of "Echo 1", which is also the opening salvo on the Fabric mix. Working with long-term friend Martyn, Steffi drops the Artificial Intelligence-influenced "No Life on the Surface", while Unbalance closes out the first release with the jittery beats of "Freedom".
