Essence
Accidental Jnr
As 2018 begins to roll out it's safe to say that Accidental Junior are ready to make a statement of intent, hence their putting together of this fantastic EP from the Sydney-based Cassius Select. As a collection of three tracks, this EP is a great look into how creative composition can be within the bass music bracket. The title track is a great example of this, incorporating off the cuff percussive rolls combined with vibrant 808 patterns and vocal sprinklings. Next up is 'Hype Hour' which is a homage to how to rework of a vocal sample to the maximum. The project is then rounded off with the post-funky sounds of 'Shaolin Soccer' which brings together massive snare led percussive movements and subtle sub patterns.

Visions
Library Music
In the dubstep halls of fame, there really are few people who can be held to such high acclaim as Kromestar. The London based musical pioneer has put together over a decade of celebrated releases spanning from soulful to downright dirt. This latest LP comes alongside the sounds of Danny Scrilla as the pair explore the expanse of emotive electronic music. The LP moves fluidly from the slower 4x4 sounds of 'Aurora' and the soundscape magnificence of 'Glare' into the more classic dubstep sounds of 'Glacial' and 'Saturns Ring'. Overall this project showcases just how creative and intuitive electronic music can be when the soul is poured into it!
TSVI
Rambo
Nervous Horizon
After a brief period away, TSVI returns to his home imprint and all around dance music dons Nervous Horizon for a funky spectacular. His brand new EP entitled 'Rambo' is a fantastic collection of futuristic funky arrangements, showcasing just how ahead of the times he is. To start, 'Pull Up' is a carnival epic with euphoric horns leading the way amidst kuduro drum patterns and percussive rolls designed to turn up any party. This is followed by the droning subs and skippy snare loops of 'Funky T' and the electronic drills of 'Roller'. The EP is then finished of with 2 heavyweight carnival collaborations, the first of which is with DJ JM entitled 'Xus Lord' followed bythe'Jaguar' alongside the infamous Wallwork. On remix duty Luru steps forward for a super high energy refurb of 'Pull Up'.

Lloyd SB
Boida Flare
Nervous Horizon
Lloyd SB: part man, part bass. The young gunslinger steps up on the excellent Nervous Horizon label, a label with a similar look and feel to Night Slugs, which means a penchant for the quirkier, odder side of UK club music. "Boida Flare" pretty much sets the scene perfectly, a wonky, detached slew of bleeps all solidified thanks to the help of some broken beats, and the same goes for the rest of these six juggernauts. We're particularly digging "Hypercube" and its metallic shot of wavy sonics, "Peach's Palace" for its total disregard for formalities, and "Pirate Bay" because, well, it's dark and heavy: strong gear, this.
Lokane
Visions
Nervous Horizon
Lokane stepped up for the first time back in August with a killer grime EP for Infinite Machine, and he's back on the young Nervous Horizon. Coming through with something of a mini LP - or extended EP? - he lays down some utter truth with these seven curb-side grime experiments that recall much of the Night Slugs output. That's right, you got it, that means broken shreds of percussion bouncing around and demolishing anything in from of them. "Visions" sets of a drunken drum stroll that never quite seems to take shape (that's a compliment, by the way), but there's also plenty of more hypnotic and mind-bending rhythms such as "Body Double", "In The Trap", or "Overproof". This is a sick one, people, and it's probably pick of the week for the digital bass charts.
TSVI
Set You Free
Nervous Horizon
London's Nervous Horizon as are bass frequency specialists specialising in crossover sounds into industrial techno, with interesting results. Label boss TSVI takes no prisoners on this brutal and in your face effort. First track "Set You Free" features a four to the floor stomp that doubles up on itself, sounding like a jackhammer at times, supporting harsh metallic strikes and electro zaps in a style that'd make Hodge stand up and notice. "Headshot" features grim horror samples over an abrasive broken beat, harsh noisescapes and a female vocal repeating the very refrain. Lokane's remix of the track later on is a real highlight with its trippy and hypnotic melody giving way to another truly grating one later, supported by psychedelic mayhem. He teams up with Luru on the experimental "Black Dog" while "Yeah" is a more minimal and restrained effort but packs equal impact in its relentless body bashing rhythm.

Nico Lindsay
Storm
Nervous Horizon
Grime with a touch of UK funky; "Storm" whips up the best elements of both genres as the icy pads and strong mic command of Nico Lindsay provide the grime aesthetic while the full charge rolling beats provide an almost tribal dynamic to the groove that's somewhere between house, garage and funky. With added version presence, this is likely to go a very long way.
